Why do we need to accept text donations?
It’s really quick and easy for your supporters if they can donate by text. This is especially good for social media campaigns as most people access social media through their phones.
Remember, any obstacle to donating, however small, will reduce the amount of donations that you receive. Setting up your own JustTextGiving account means that your supporters can donate straight to your organisation.
What is JustTextGiving?
JustTextGiving by Vodafone is part of JustGiving and lets anyone donate to you by sending a text message with a text code to 70070. Unique text codes are used to filter donations to the right charity. Once you’ve signed up to JustTextGiving you’ll need to set up a unique text code to accept donations by text.
How do I sign up for JustTextGiving?
If you already use JustGiving, they have instructions on how to set up your text donations.
If you haven’t signed up to JustGiving you’ll have to sign up to their basic plan. This won’t cost you anything. All you need is your charity’s registered details and your charity number.
How do I ask for donations?
Once you’ve generated your text code you’re ready to go! Simply ask your supporters to text your text code followed by the donation amount to 70070.
In the example below Age UK Anytown is asking for donations using the text code ANYT45.
